About This Sojourner
Thank you for visiting me here!
I am originally from Los Angeles, but have lived in Oakland (CA), Charlotte (NC), New York, and Columbus (OH), and I am moving back to the west coast soon. I think this statement more than anything else describes why my word is Sojourner, and like all sojourners, I am seeking. I am in pursuit of authenticity and following my bliss, which for me is copious amounts of travel, reading completely ridiculous works of fiction, eating like the locals (especially if it involves bacon), movies, shopping, exploring, hanging with friends and family, laughing a lot, road trips, and travel (did I mention that?) . Oh, and I really want to love camping (we will see how that shakes out).
When I am traveling, I am absolutely and perfectly in the moment, and there is nowhere else I would rather be. I have a singular purpose: to witness the beauty and relate to the people that abide in it. I hope to capture the feeling of standing in the shadow of greatness, consuming the ingenuity inherent in the creation of the local cuisine, and recognizing myself in those people who on the surface, share little in common with me. I travel to have my mind blown and my thoughts altered. I travel to expand my consciousness and in that expansiveness find more of myself.
I have always returned home with stories and pictures from my journeys, but it took me a long time to really realize that travelling had turned me into a storyteller and photographer. It is here that I share with you these adventures. Just as an FYI, I have a ton to say to you and am not sure in what order I will say it all, so my post will not be in any way chronological. (I hope it doesn’t become too disjointed.)
A sojourner is only ever temporarily abiding in a place, but what is really the life of a human being, if not a small sigh in the timeline of the Earth. In that way, we are all sojourners. What stories will you tell? I want to inspire you to travel, to think outside the box, explore your assumptions and push your limits. I want to encourage you to be bold in your travels and immerse yourself in the experience, and even if you never leave your hometown there is something there that is as yet unexplored by you. I want you to create a bucket list and annihilate it! Life is a journey, live it…
I pledge to respond to every comment made on my blog and every email that I receive, so by all means tell me your thoughts. My email address is: email@example.com. Oh, you can also follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest (but that may be a whole lot of me) all under “sojournerseeks”. I have met some of my best friends travelling, so if you think you will be crossing my path drop me a line.
Be well and live life.
